_ English as a Second Language - ESL

The English as a Second Language (ESL) program at Imagine Sullivant uses a pull-out and push-in model to service approximately 168 students. The Smart board, manipulatives, flashcards and guided reading are just some of the techniques used to teach our ESL students. The majority of our ESL students are Hispanic; representing Mexico, Dominican Republic and Honduras. A small percentage of students are also Somalian. Our students are given the Ohio Test of English Language Acquisition (OTELA) in February of every school year. This test determines whether students remain in our ESL program or achieve a proficiency level of English.
